Chai poached pears

Pears are a source of many nutrients including fibre, vitamin C and potassium. They’re also a source of phytochemicals and various active compounds that have shown to have the following benefits:

  • Reduced allergies & inflammation

  • Antioxidant protection

  • Blood sugar regulation

  • Promotes beneficial gut bacteria balance

  • Supports regular bowel motions

  • Enhanced liver detoxification

Aside from all of that, chai poached pears are delicious and here’s how to make them!

Ingredients

  • 3 pears

  • 3 tablespoons of chai, my go-to is Prana Chai

  • Water

Method

  • Peel the pears, leaving the stems in-tact (nibble on the peel as you cook!)

  • Boil enough water to cover the pears

  • Add chai & pears to water

  • Poach for 45 – 60 minutes or until soft

  • Drain pears & reserve the poaching chai water

  • Enjoy your poached pears in porridge, with yoghurt, as a pancake topping, baked into loafs/cakes etc!

  • Use the reserved poaching water to enjoy a pear flavoured chai tea

Store pears within the drained poaching water for up to 5 days.
